NYSARH’s focus has always been on rural determinants of health inequities. We are committed to understanding additional dimensions of diversity within our rural communities, and to explore how the various factors intersect to impact the health of our stakeholders.
In 2022, NYSARH applied for and was granted funding from the National Rural Health Association in 2022 to undertake a Rural Health Equity project. We wished to use the Decennial Census and the American Community Survey to better understand what these data can reveal about our rural areas.
To improve the accessibility of this data to our stakeholders, we developed a map-based interactive Diversity Dashboard in partnership with Common Ground Health.
This project helps NYSARH move towards its goal to be more representative of ALL rural New Yorkers.
