Mental Health First Aid Training

Flyer for Mental Health First Aid Training in Liberty, NY, on 09/24/2025Farmers and rural residents face unique challenges—and knowing how to help when someone is struggling can make all the difference. On Wednesday, September 24, a free, full-day Mental Health First Aid training will be held at Cornell Cooperative Extension in Liberty, NY. This nationally recognized course is designed to help participants recognize the signs and symptoms of mental health or substance use challenges and provide initial support until appropriate professional help can be reached.

The training is especially relevant for those who live in or serve rural areas—including farmers, agribusiness workers, healthcare providers, civic and faith leaders, and neighbors. Just as CPR prepares someone to assist during a physical health emergency, Mental Health First Aid equips participants with the tools to respond confidently to a mental health or substance use crisis. The session includes lunch, refreshments, and breaks throughout the day, and all participants will receive a certificate of completion.
