Contraception Myths: What Patients Hear – and What Providers Should Know
This presentation will identify common misconceptions about the efficacy, safety, and appropriate use of major contraceptive methods including emergency contraception, long-acting reversible, barrier, and hormonal methods. It will review the evidence that counter prevalent myths about contraception, such as impacts on fertility, cancer risk, weight change, bone health, and long-term health, and will discuss myth-busting strategies in practice by responding accurately to common patient or public concerns about contraception.
